Like any American, traveling occasionally is just what I love doing and I bet you share the same stuff with me. But traveling does not mean that you would be safe. Escaping from our job and other stressful activities is just something that w Torres del Paine is among the biggest of Chiles national parks, occupying almost 600,000 acres (242,000 ha) of land in the south on the border with Argentina. It is also among the most important, receiving a significant proportion of domes
Innsbruck is embraced by ski resorts. In all directions there are slopes and mountains hugging the horizon. The region around the city, the Tyrol, has more than 500 kilometers (310 miles) of trails which run through 25 village resorts and eight major ski areas. If you are staying in Innsbruck hotel options are plentiful and you will not be far from the slopes. In fact, the Nordpark ski area can be reached from the centre of the city via the 1.8 km Nordpark Cable Railway. The restaurant at the summit is brightly illuminated at night and can act as a sort of guiding star for navigating about Innsbruck, as it can be seen from all over the city. It also serves up some excellent winter fare. Nordpark has six pistes (trails) and some of excellent steep slope skiing, with gradients of up to 70 per cent. There is also a terrain park for boarders. Axamer Lizum, southwest of Innsbruck, hosted the bulk of the alpine ski events during the 1964 Winter Olympics. Only the mens downhill was held elsewhere, this being at Patscherkofel to the southeast of Innsbruck. Axamer Lizum offers some challenging off-piste (off trail) skiing and is being linked up with the nearby Gotzens/Mutters slopes, thus providing a large and varied ski area. Patscherkofel is a good slope for groups of skiers who may have different skill levels, including childrens runs, a snowboard park, toboggan run, and an Olympic bobsleigh. A bit farther from Innsbruck (17 kilometers) is Seefeld ski area, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region. The area offers some of the best cross-country skiing in the Tyrol, with the Nordic events at both the 1964 and 1976 Winter Olympics having been hosted here. Innsbruck hotels will put you in the midst of one of the best ski regions in the world. Indeed, Innsbruck is one of the few cities in the world to have hosted the Winter Olympics twice (in 1964 and 1976) and it should provide you with a good many ski vacations as well.
