Just east of Trunk Bay on the west side of St. John, Cinnamon Bay prides itself of shallow, crystal-clear water that gently kisses a long stretch of soft white powdery sand. Perfect for people who love to bask in the sun or soak in warm Caribbean waters, Cinnamon Bay is also a great place for adventure seekers, with access to tons of activities. Cinnamon Bay is excellent for snorkeling. The unique land formation of nearby Little Cinnamon Cay is home to many varieties of colorful local fish and marine life. Youll find fish of all sorts, like the parrot fish, angel fish, sturgeon and many more. There are also turtles, cuttlefishes and sea cucumbers. You can even watch the splendor of a ray's underwater flight. On the left side of the bay (when you're facing the sea), you'll find Little Cinnamon Bay where you can snorkel or dive the remains of a Cessna aircraft that crashed and sank some years ago. Other water sports activities include kayaking, SCUBA, windsurfing, and day sails. There are activities desks on the beach for equipment rentals so you don't have to worry about bringing bulky equipment along. Just relax enjoy all that the beach has to offer. There is a campground sanctioned by the Virgin Islands National Park. Here is where you can go rustic. You can pitch a tent on bare sites, stay at a tent covered platform, or rent a cottage. Either way, you will definitely experience the naked beauty of of this island paradise in full. Hiking is one activity you don't want to pass up while staying at the bay. Wander along the Cinnamon Bay Trail, where youll see lush vegetation teeming local wildlife, and ruins of the old Cinnamon Bay Sugar Mill. By hiking the trail, you will see and understand the local history and culture, making you fall in love with the island even more. Transportation to and from Cinnamon Bay and within St. John is easy. Taxis and bench-equipped pick-up trucks are regulars. But the best way to get to the island and visit each of its incredible sites is on your own private day charter boat.
