Hundreds of them may temporarily band together to celebrate the bounty and abundance in the area. They are very social and enjoy frolicking together. They are also kind and support each other in times of need. These mammals have been known to stay with or rescue an injured member of their clan or even help a being outside their species such as a whale or person.- There are many different types: There are those that inhabit the ocean and others that swim in rivers. The river varieties number five types while the oceanic varieties number thirty-six. The most common type is the bottlenose and the largest is the Orca or killer whale.- They can submerge deeply: These beings can swim deep down below the surface but they can also stay out of the water for a surprising amount of time. It is reported that dolphins can stay out of the water for up to fifteen minutes at a stint.- They are intelligent: Many individuals vouch for the intelligence of dolphins while others arent yet convinced of just how smart they actually are. Studies are ongoing and some of the debate circles around what the definition of intelligence actually is.
