Like any American, traveling occasionally is just what I love doing and I bet you share the same stuff with me. But traveling does not mean that you would be safe. Escaping from our job and other stressful activities is just something that w Torres del Paine is among the biggest of Chiles national parks, occupying almost 600,000 acres (242,000 ha) of land in the south on the border with Argentina. It's at times like this that I just wished I could be a million miles away from the UK.I remember being totally bemused a few years ago when there were similar riots in France and the government there seemed unable to tackle the situation straight away. I was even more bemused by some of the comments our politicians here in the UK were making about the turmoil in France. Of course, Brixton riots, Birmingham before that and Tottenham later on, were simply minor blips which we had all learnt from. Our politicians were criticising the French and poking fun at them as though riots of such scales could never possibly happen in the UK. We Brits, they sought to convince us, were far too civilised a society. Our security forces were far too professional and restrained to allow the unruly class go on prolonged rampage across our cities. The contradictions were remarkable and endless, but in case you have missed my point, I have two questions to ask you. Can a society that is too civilised have an unruly and disenchanted class - evidently so large that the police have overstretched themselves in trying to contain them? How do you restrain an angry mob by restraining yourselves to the point where you rule out any riot weapons at your disposal other than batons which are ineffective against fast-moving fluid crowds? The world has gone crazy. I need to get away. Anyone interested in a Yacht Share or a Boat Share? I cannot afford one on my own, but I think they will come in handy during this recession.
