Planning a trip to Gulf Shores vacation rentals and taking Rover along? There are lots of inns, condos and cottages that accept dogs. The Gulf Shores location offers much in the way of beauty, relaxation, fine dining and activities. Being able to bring ones pet along can turn the respite into a true family getaway. Dogs are mans (and womans) best friends, arent they? Being able to take them to the beach can add another whole layer of enjoyment for the adults and kids of the family. Here are some things to think about:-Check rental policies and rules: Before deciding on a place to vacation while on the trip, its wise to make a few phone calls and check internet listings to make sure Fido is welcome. Even if the online listing says pets welcome, its best to follow up with a phone call before showing up with leash in hand. Sometimes rules have been altered or ownership has changed since a web listing was posted. Best to be sure about current policies and rules before checking in.-Immunizations up to date: Before traveling with your pup, it would be wise to schedule a checkup with the vet. Carrying your dogs shot record along just in case will be a wise step. If your pet is a nervous traveler, it might be advantageous to ask the vet to prescribe some puppy sedatives for traveling. Most dogs love to ride in cars, but trains and planes might be a different story.-Supplies to bring: Dont forget to bring along your best friends food, dish, and a few toys. A rawhide bone to chew on and a few things to fetch will provide tools for fun. Having a leash or two will be necessary, too, as most public places require pets to be leashed.-Dog tag: If a pet wanders off in a locale far from home, he or she might try to make it back to his or her home-sweet-home and get lost. Remember the movie Homeward Bound about the pets that got lost while out of town? Dont want to turn that into your reality, do you? Make sure pets are well tended and wear an ID tag that has owners name and cell phone number engraved on it. -Beaches: Does your dog love to swim? There are some beaches that allow Rover to come along while others have a no pets policy. Check this out in advance. Some beaches are specifically designated for our four-legged-friends.-Socialized: When taking an animal on vacation, its important that he or she is well socialized. If a pet hasnt been around anyone but the family for years on end, traveling to a new destination with strange people and other pets might be a bit to much for him or her. Its always wise to expose your terrier, Lab or collie to others before taking him or her on the road.Gulf Shores vacation rentals can be splendid fun for the whole gang, including the family pet. After a bit of research and thoughtful planning, the trip will become a reality.
