Choose from nine popular beaches in the area pick your favourite or hop between beaches on different days to get a flavour for the place. The sea plays havoc with the sand on many of these beaches and the landscape is a rough one, but no less welcome or stunning than any other in the area. Beaches to visit Burriano Beach is often the most crowded and seemingly most popular of the 9 main beaches in Nerja. Located to the east of the town this beach has been well developed to accommodate families with children and those seeking some serious sun bathing. The facilities are well developed and there are umbrellas and loungers for hire as well as a large choice of restaurants and cafes in which to grab a quick drink. The beach itself is made of fine sand and loose pebbles and to its west is situated Carabeo beach which must be accessed by a large amount of steps. Be careful of the strong undercurrents in some areas on these beaches. Torrecilla beach is the beach that can be accessed from the town centre. All the usual facilities are for hire including pedallos and there are 2 bars near the beach for an evening cocktail. There is a pleasant promenade leading to Playazo Beach which is ideal for a late afternoon stroll. The Playazo is less commercialised with a more rugged landscape but is ideal for those seeking a local feel. The restaurants and cafes here are good value and the beach is off the tourist radar. Follow a windy cobbled road behind the Balcon de Europa hotel for a real gem amongst beaches in Nerja. Salon beach is mostly deserted by tourists as it is difficult to locate if you arent aware of it at all. The beach has no commercial facilities but is a pleasant location with lovely views of the traditional village fishermens homes in the area. Finally, try Calahonda maison location espagne beach. A steep walk down, this beach is bordered by rocks but benefits from a fine sand floor. There is a café that is open during the summer months and as on Salon beach the traditional fishermens cottages make for pleasant viewing as you relax on the beach.
