Ronda is located in Andalucia, in the Malaga province. It is the provinces most treasured town and offers much to see and do with its numerous historical sites and exquisite architectural buildings. It has the most ancient bullring in all of Spain.This quaint little town stands majestically on a high and lofty plateau in one of Spains awesome mountain range, the Serrania de Ronda. Ronda can be considered one of Malagas prettiest towns with a rich history to tell.Overview of the townRonda town is divided into two obvious districts; a medieval section that has seen a lot of Moorish influence and the Mercadillo that traces back to the 18th century with many exquisite ancient buildings including Spains oldest bullring that is presumably the most striking in form. This is the original site where the Romero family passed on their tradition in bullfighting from their founding fathers, reinventing the practice with new introductions, to what is now known as modern bullfighting.Rondas districts are separated by the great el Tajo gorge that has a sturdy 18th century bridge spanning it. This Puente Nuevo Bridge is the visitors favorite spot where they are awed by the deep chasm of the gorge with the river flowing fast into a ravine down below. It is an awesome sight and a challenge to those who are afraid of heights; all the more with rumors of history where Francos soldiers were said to have thrown their opponents from this bridge.Other attractionsThe other side of the bridge leads to Rondas el Mercadillo district. There are many amazing and beautifully kept gardens leading to another area of beauty and tranquility, the Mirador. Here you can enjoy nature at its best with the splendid countryside landscape. The air is clear and refreshing to the soul. One can just relax and enjoy quiet moments here, strolling around the lush space and greenery.Rondas famous bullring lies in this part of the district. There is also a nearby museum that is fascinating as it holds information dedicated to the local bullfighting history. You will appreciate the art of bullfighting after being informed quite thoroughly.There is plenty of shopping available in Ronda; a special section has been set aside for pedestrians to walk and shop till they drop. No vehicles are allowed in this section and many good bargains can be obtained from the shops here, there are even some special antiques to admire and purchase.Stroll further down following the ancient city walls to view the Arab Baths; these are unique structures and have been excellently preserved for your viewing.You will certainly be delighted with a visit to Ronda. From history to architecture, artifacts to culture, Ronda has so much to offer that it is impossible to pass it by.
