Some would debate whether flying was fun or not. There usually was no debate about how much fun the high soaring and cloud hopping was, but as of lately the commercial flying experience has alot to be desired. It used to be that everyone who had the opportunity to fly saw it as a special occasion that held special bragging rights in school and the neighborhood. It was an occasion to get dressed up all prim and proper making it extra special, fun and glamorous. You were doing what the movie stars done and everyone knew it.The pilots were admired and looked up to as special people and the stewardesses were glamorous and friendly and treated everybody on the plane like they were special. No, flash forward to modern day air travel and it doesn't even resemble what it once was. However, society largely refuses to pay for other services. Round trip tickets to most anywhere cost money as does ocean going vessels and these transportation industries could soon go the way of extinct creatures of old, unless the begin to make enough profit to operate successful. It is one thing to try to make travel affordable, but a totally different thing to put yourself out of business in the process. One very effective to turn the tide would be to start transporting paying passengers, without the inconvenience of cramped cabins that resemble sardine cans filled with passengers to start making money to operate. This situation is repeated several times daily like a endless loop on a runaway train or a plane on autopilot. Overcrowding is a real problem that will have to be addressed with some real solutions very soon. Not everyone wants to fly, let them drive or use some other alternatives.
