Basel is the third largest city in Switzerland, which stands on the banks of the Rhine on the borders of Switzerland, Germany and France. Although an industrial city, Basel is also culturally very important. Its 30 museums, its university, and its pronounced taste for contemporary art make it a dynamic city. Built in 2002 and featuring a capacity of just over 6,300 people, it also hosts a series of large rock concerts and is well connected to the region's public transport network.
