Ogunquit is a popularvacation resort which is situated on the coast of the state of Maineon the east coast of the United States. The name Ogunquit hadthe meaning of coastal lagoon to the Abenaki Indians and itdates from 1641. It has a small population of just over 1,000 peoplebut in the peak months of July and August it attracts over 100,000people into the town.The area is unique inthat it has no branded stores in the area, these related to largehotel chains such as Hilton and Best Western and restaurants such asPizza Hut and Mc Donalds. A couple ofthe most popular places are Barnacle Billy's and Mc Perkins. AtBarnacle Billy's you can get some excellent lobster or fresh fish orscallops. There is a small outdoor eating area which has views of allthe lobster boats coming in and it is a nice location in the sunnysummer months. Mc Perkins is the sister restaurant of the awardwining Arrows restaurant and there you will an excellent selection offine dining options at an affordable price. Again the location isexcellent as it look out onto the sea.Of course you will needmore than one day in Ogunquit to enjoy the many restaurants andattractions that are available in the area. There are numerousoptions available for accommodation in the area with a largeselection of high quality hotels and small bed and breakfasts.One of the best placesto stay in the area is the Admirals Inn, it has a bed and breakfastinformal feel but has the facilities of a 4 star hotel. The resorthas a total of 3 buildings, one building is family friendly andanother is for adults only!There are 2 heated pool,2 Jacuzzis, a gym, sauna and spa facilities on site and the roomsvary from small cosy queen rooms to luxury Jacuzzi suites.
