Like any American, traveling occasionally is just what I love doing and I bet you share the same stuff with me. But traveling does not mean that you would be safe. Escaping from our job and other stressful activities is just something that w Torres del Paine is among the biggest of Chiles national parks, occupying almost 600,000 acres (242,000 ha) of land in the south on the border with Argentina. David Sheldrick Elephant OrphanageJust outside the city you will find this fantastic elephant orphanage founded by the David Sheldrick trust. Made famous by the BBC programme elephant diaries this centre is a really great opportunity to get close to young elephants and contribute to a charity that really is at the forefront of conservation and protection of the African wilderness. The Trust has successfully saved and hand-reared over 82 infant African Elephant calves and there are currently over 40 of the Trusts hand-reared elephants are fully established and living free amongst their wild peers in Tsavo National Park. The centre is open every day between 11 a.m. and 12 noon when the Nursery inmates come in for their daily mud bath, and visitors can watch the very young being fed. Karen Blixon House Named after Karen Blixen of Out of Africa fame, the suburb of Karen is now quite a popular tourist attraction. The farmhouse where the author lived from 1914 to 1931 has now been preserved as a museum. Set in lovely gardens it is quite an interesting place to simply wander around, and enjoy lunch at the restaurant on site.Langata Giraffe CentreAt this sanctuary for the rare Rothschilds giraffe you can observe and hand-feed the giraffes from a raised circular wooden structure, a quite unique experience! This is the perfect place for a close up photo opportunity.Carnivore Restaurant Ok, so you can probably guess from the name that this really isnt the place for you if you are vegetarian. This is easily the most well known nyama choma (barbeque meat) restaurant that youll find on your Kenya adventures. From the moment you arrive you are greeted at the entrance by a huge barbecue pit laden with swords of meat from beef and pork, to ostrich and crocodile. During the course of your dinner the waiters circulate with fresh skewers of meat to keep tempting you to indulge in just one more! The feeding frenzy doesnt stop until you admit defeat by the lowering of a white paper flag perched atop the central tray. Once youve finished your meal you can also visit the nightclub on site, perhaps dancing may help burn off all those calories! You can also find some authentic Nairobi accommodation if you look hard enough.
