Most people only spend two or three nights here before moving east to Jaipur, the 'pink city', to explore the temples and the Amber Fort. After a couple of days in Agra there are two main choices available, choice one is to travel back to Delhi and then fly down to Goa for the remainder of your holiday, relax on the beach and top up your tan. However, if you now have the taste for seeing sights and experiencing the culture of India, then jump on a train to Varanasi, situated on the river Ganges to experience Hindu life in all of its colour.There are of course many alternatives, bearing in mind that India is so large. One is Kerala, spend a few nights in Cochin, travel down to Periyar to relax on a houseboat as you float through the backwaters of India and then finish in the South near Kovalam for a few days on a beach. You can also add the hills of the Western Ghats, full of spice plantations to your itinerary to escape the heat of the low lying cities.Tamil Nadu is a beautiful southern state with fiery food, friendly locals and some pretty amazing temples.
