Take I-65 south to exit 242,follow the signs and you will see that it is actually in the suburb of Pelham. (222 Highway 33, Pelham, AL 35124) This campground was a KOA and many of thelocals continue to refer to it as the KOA.It is a largecampground with paved roads and paved sites including a substantial number ofpull through sites. The sites seem to begenerally level, though we had to use levelers at our site. The store has a good supply of RV items aswell as drinks, snacks and some food. The BirminghamSouth Campground comes complete with free coffee, free Wi-Fi, and freecable. By free I mean that there is noextra charge for these services. TheWi-Fi worked reasonably well, though either it or my computer was pretty slowat times. I managed to get through allof my e-mail so it was certainly adequate. There were 17 cable channels listed but some of them did not come inclearly. At several sites I noted thepresence of a satellite dish.Rates at thistime are: Water & Electric$37.00; Water/Electric Pull-Thru$37.00; W/E &Sewer 30 Amp $38.00; W/E & Sewer 50 Amp $41.00: This is a Good Sam Park and members receive a10% discount. It is not a bargain, butgiven the amenities and location it is reasonably priced. There is also aplayground for the young, or young at heart, a pool and a picnic pavilion. All of the employees were helpful and quitefriendly. There is certainly plenty ofsouthern hospitality. I have stayed atthis park several times and currently store my RV in their adjacent storagefacility. It would be difficult toimagine a friendlier and more helpful group of people. The showers havelots of hot water. They are cleaneddaily and are more than satisfactory. We rented a carfrom Enterprise and were picked up five minutes after calling. At $18 per day plus gas that turned out to bea very good deal.Their officehours are generally from 8 am until 6 pm, though Sunday is a differentmatter. I suggest checking on the hoursupon arrival. You can send theman e-mail at: [email protected] and make reservations by calling800-772-8832.
