Events, concerts and exhibition are really very numerous. First of all we have to cite the famous Art Biennale. Now at its 53rd edition, however it is always the most awaited by all lovers of modern and contemporary art. The title this year is Making Worlds and it refers to the creating of the artist according to their Weltanschauung: a work of art is the realization of the world view of who realizes it. There are a lot of Italian and international artists exhibiting their works in this wonderful setting. Other exhibitions scheduled, always very interesting, are the one about the masterpieces of the Futurists at the Peggy Guggenheim Museum, which contains masterpieces from the greatest futurist artists, i.e. Balla, Boccioni, Carrà, Russolo and Severini, together with those of other artists associated to the movement, during the anniversary of the publication of the Manifesto of Futurism by Marinetti. Always at the Guggenheim Museum we can admire the exhibition of Robert Rauschenberg, with a selection of 40 sculptures from institutions and private collections. In the 80s Rauschenberg concentrated his artistic vision on exploration of the properties of metal. Assembling objects, especially waste materials collected in gas stations, abandoned car parts, industrial waste and other waste deleterious for the environment, the Texan artist has created sculptures that recall his first Combines, from which has born the series of Gluts, here on display. Organized by the Foundation of Venice Civic Museums and the Vervoordt Foundation, In-finitum scheduled in Venice, Palazzo Fortuny from June 6 to 15 November 2009, explores the category of Infinity in its various meanings, from the non-finished to the to-unlimited with a multidisciplinary approach in which art, science and philosophy of different eras and civilizations meet and compare. In addition, there are also many other events not to miss, like the great concert in Piazza San Marco of Leonard Cohen on 3 August, the only Italian date of this unfailing event, where the famous Canadian poet, writer and songwriter will present the songs that have made him famous during his forty-years long career. A unique artist with an inimitable class who will captivate the public singing the most famous passages of his ultra forty years long career, during which he sold over 21 millions records worldwide. To signal there are also the concerts in the house of Carlo Goldoni, with the title Italian Serenade, Sundays in July, with the music of two Venetian composers Barbara Strozzi and Anna Bon. And certainly not to be missed are the Fridays at the Conservatory, at Palazzo Pisani, with the Ensemble Klavierimba of the music conservatory Benedetto Marcello in Venice. Throughout the summer also the antique market will be held in the fishmonger near the Rialto Bridge, every second Sunday and Monday of the month. We can not forget one of the oldest and evocative traditions of Venice, the Festa del Redentore on 18 and 19 July. One of the most traditional festivals that dates back from 1576, when, because of a terrible plague that attacked furiously the city, the Senate voted to raise a temple in honor of Christ the Redeemer, on the island of Giudecca. To this temple are linked the famous architects Andrea Palladio and Antonio Da Ponte. On the evening of the third Saturday of July, hundreds of boats, decorated with foliage and multicolored balloons, gather in the Giudecca Canal and in the Bacino of San Marco. From the illuminated banks and on balconies a large crowd assembles to attend this feast that triumphed with a great show. Then the boats, between songs and sounds, will radiate to the citys canals to gather only when the dawn comes at the Lido to await the sunrise. The day of Sunday is dedicated to the pilgrimage to the Church of the Redeemer, crossing the bridge of boats.
