But traveling does not mean that you would be safe. Escaping from our job and other stressful activities is just something that w
Although self-tanning products have been improved immensely, it'sstill not foolproof. When you jet off on your holiday, the last thingyou want is to look like you've been tangoed or have a body coveredwith uneven streaks where your fake tan went wrong! The safestmethod to get a great, sexy fake tan is of course to book anappointment with a professional. But after you've booked your holidayand bought your capsule wardrobe, forking out a wad of cash for a profake tan may seem a bit much. That's ok though, because you can getgreat results at home with a bit of care and effort. Before you begin, make sure you have the following:fake-tanning producta long-handled spongeself-tan removervaselineself-tanning mitt or latex gloveshair band or tiesYoumight be worried about what kind of colour you'll get from yourfake-tanner. If so, choose an inconspicuous patch of skin (try yourstomach, for example) and apply a bit of tanner a week or sobeforehand. The colour will develop in a few hours and you'll be ableto see what kind of result you'll get. Remember this year's tan is allabout subtlety - a soft, sexy glow instead of a dark tan, solight-to-medium products are best in most cases. In order toavoid streaks, you need to prepare your skin properly, which takes abit of time. The day before self-tanning, carefully exfoliate. If youshave or wax, now is the time to do so. If you exfoliate afterself-tanning, your tan will fade more quickly and you are much morelikely to get streaks if you don't do it. For difficult areas (such asknees, elbows and the backs of your ankles), exfoliate twice.Thenight before you apply self-tanner, make sure to moisturise. Make sureyour skin is hydrated when you apply self-tanner or the result couldend up looking uneven. If it's not too hot, wear long trousers andsleeves to bed to keep in as much moisture as possible. When itcomes to applying your self-tanner, first swipe vaseline over yournails and eyebrows. Begin at the ankles and work your way slowly up thebody for good, even coverage. Apply less product to areas such asknees, elbows and ankles to avoid dark patches. Just remember to use atanning mitt or latex gloves to apply it to get an even tan and avoidthe dreaded giveaway of orange palms! Do not shower for at leastseveral hours after application. Put aside a set of loose, darkclothing to wear while your self-tanner works its magic, since manyfake-tanners contain a bronzer which is easily rubbed off.Evenif you are using a gradual tanning product, you still need to blend andmassage it in properly. If you're using a spray, hold the can at arm'slength: you get a finer mist that way. This can be frustrating when youdon't have a lot of time, but trust me - the results will be worth it!Whenapplying tanner to your face, mix half-and-half with your usualmoisturiser. Apply only a tiny amount to your eyelids and under eyes.Remember you can always swipe off extra product with your fake-tanremover. If you have particularly dry skin or are over forty, try usinga facial tanning product with collagen for added benefits.Alternatively, try a gradual tanner to build up colour slowly.Ifyou're worried about trying fake tanner on your face, a similar lookcan be achieved with the careful application of bronzing makeup.Toavoid blocked pores, exfoliate gently every second day. With a gentleproduct, the colour of the tan should not decrease. Make exfoliatingpart of your beauty routine.Remember, however: self-tanner will notprotect your skin from the Sun! Make sure to use at least SPF 30 whileout in the full sun. It will not decrease your tan and will protectyour skin.Happy tanning! Article Tags: Make Sure
