Dundee is better known as the city of discovery and it is situated on the east coast of Scotland, above Fife. The city was best known for producing Jam, Jute and Journalism in the past but has now developed into a technological centre.The main attractions in the city centre are the R.S.S Discovery and the nearby Glamis castle. The Discovery is permanently docked in the River Tay, a few minutes walk from the railway station. You can climb aboard and learn about the history of the ship and its captain.Glamis castle is only a few miles outside the city and it is one of the best preserved castles in Scotland. Inside you can tour selected rooms and learn about the castle history as well as various period specific information.The city is also well known for its vibrant nightlife and indeed there is no shortage of bars and nightclubs in the city centre. The main area for bars is to the west of the city on Perth Road. There you will find popular bars such as the Social and Drouthey Neebours.The main nightclub in Dundee is Fat Sams, this is about a 10 minute walk from the main high street in Dundee. There are usually various events throughout the week and cheap drink promotions on a Wednesday, which is student night throughout the city.When visiting Dundee it is important to get the right accommodation, this is a great place to tour central Scotland from.
