The historic center of Zurich Niederdorf is at the same time the centre for fun and entertainment. In the evening Niederdorf is filled with street musicians, dancers, singers and the audience drinking beer and wine. Also dont forget that Zurich is the business centre and, at the same time, a large travel destination. This is from where many travel routes around the country start. This is one of the most beautiful streets in Europe. Having arrived here one will find a great amount of important banks massive marble buildings with whirling doors made of glass, and neatly-dresses porters. Plus to this, the street accommodates offices of important companies and insurance agencies their subsidiaries are found on all the five continents. At the same street one will find luxurious restaurants, boutiques, posh jewellery shops, antiques and editorial offices (Zurich is one of the largest European centers for publishing and printing trades). As for its architecture, because most of its buildings were built in the 19th 20th century and are eclectic style, Bahnhofstrasse might seem not that interesting for tourists. But cross Limmat river and get to its opposite bank, and you will find yourself in the other world, filled with the atmosphere of the old times: ruins of the Roman circus and therms, Grossmünster church with two bell towers. There are also guild houses and City Hall found not far from Grossmünster these buildings are more than a hundred years old. Tourists really like the labyrinth of narrow medieval streets, tiny squares with fountains where people used to come to fill their vessels with water. This district is full of antique shops and bookseller's, small cafes with old intricate signboards, low oak and stone arches. And of course Zurich is an important cultural centre. The list of local attractions includes opera and theatre, national museum, Kunsthaus Zürich gallery, Museum Rietberg dedicated to arts of Asia, Africa, America and Oceania. The University of Zurich and ETH Zürich the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, are very popular with local people.Among the places one is advised to visit there are also: old districts of Zurich and Winterthur (located not far from Zurich), Zoo and Chinese Garden, Waterhouse Building and the Lindenhof medieval castle.
