The Cyprus resort of Kapparis has grown quickly over the last few years from a small village into a thriving community. Not all that long ago this lively tourist trap had only one main street with a few shops and a couple of holiday apartment complexes. It was once the last stop before the then magnificent Mediterranean resort of Famagusta which now lies in dereliction in the cross border buffer zone. Despite the resort being on a road to nowhere Kapparis has become one of the best holiday resorts on the East coast of Cyprus. In fact it is about the only places on that side of the Island which remains open for business all year round. With a great selection of bars and some real nice restaurants including a Chinese take away and a tradition chip shop Kapparis makes a great family resort.Cyprus property development has played a big part in the revitalization of Kapparis and Brits have flocked there to buy luxury apartments or villas. In fact it is likely that this influx of English buyers has been the main influence behind Kapparis becoming one of the few all year resorts in Cyprus. Many of the flourishing businesses on the resort are owned by ex pats who have settled in the area which makes Kapparis ideal for those seeking a home from home style holiday. The formula obviously works well because Cyprus holidaymakers keep on coming back there year after year and property prices in the area continue to rise. This boost in tourism is good news for everyone especially property owners in Kapparis who are finding an eager market looking for Cyprus villas and apartments to rent.The resort is ideally placed for access to the main town of Paralimni and is only about 6 kilometers from the bustling resort of Protaras. That said, most people seem really happy to stay in Kapparis itself making use of the beautiful sandy coves like fireman's beach which looks out towards the ghost town of Famagusta. With more nightlife than you can shake a stick at there is plenty to keep all members of the family entertained. Then again if you want to party until dawn the famous party resort of Agia Napa is only about a twenty minute bus ride away. About 1 kilometer from the middle of the resort is a mini zoo with a view point where you can look across the boarder into Northern Cyprus and Famagusta resort. The resort was once the jewel in the crown of Cyprus with it's miles of white sandy beach and top notch hotels. A playground of the rich and famous Famagusta would have been on any exclusive cruise ships stop off list for sure. With it's once bustling port and beautiful town center the resort was one of the best in the Mediterranean area. It doesn't take rocket science to work out what would happen to Kapparis and the surrounding areas if ever Famagusta was to come back into the possesion of Southern Cyprus. Property owners would reap benefits they had never dreamt of in terms of both huge increases in value and a substantial upturn in rental incomes too.Whatever happens in the future between North and South Cyprus it is likely that Kapparis will continue to grow as a family holiday resort. Many people have invested heavily in the area and that investment looks set to continue for the foreseeable future. Many of the former hotel apartment complexes in Kapparis have been totally renovated and are being sold as luxury apartments. With the benefit of a pool and reception area these serviced properties make excellent rental investments or private holiday homes.
