Seville is the capital of Andalusia. It is a large city, the second largest in Spain and is brimming with excitement, life and culture. These make it one of the most vibrant European destinations and a prominent one on the Spanish tourist map.If nature is what you are looking to feast your eyes on, you can enjoy it in its entire splendor at the Doñana Nature Reserve and the Sierra Norte Nature Reserve. Nowadays it is considered to be the most magnificent and largest gothic cathedral worldwide.The tallest tower in Spain- La Giralda is attached to the cathedral. It was erected in 1914 and was meant to be a minaret of the mosque in those days. Excavations have found that the stones used at the foundations, originally belonged to roman structures.The naval museum is alongside the river. It is more commonly known as del Oro or Golden Tower. It was built between 1221 and 1222 and was used for defensive purposes in the region from the Alcázar to the River.The Alcázar- which many consider the highlight of Seville was the Royal Mudéjar Palace. It has lovely sprawling gardens. It also houses the The Casa de Pilatos or House of Pilate which is a 16th century mansion. It is very highly regarded and appreciated in architectural circles as it has a beautiful blend of Mudéjar, Gothic and Renaissance styles. Another cannot miss is the glorious Plaza de España, situated close to the Barrio Santa Cruz.Seville is world famous for its two huge fiestas, both of which occur in spring. First you have the religious festival, taking place during Easter week and the other is the Feria de Abríl (April Fair). Both will surely leave you with unforgettable and highly cherished memories.
