Sony Ericsson have introduced a new model to their ranks in the form of the impressive Xperia Neo model. Although there was much speculation that this is basically a revamped Vivaz, the similarities between the new models stop at design, as the Neo boasts a specification that far surpasses the previous model.This new model will certainly win a lot of fans on its looks alone. The large display dominates the front of the phone, whilst the button that lurk beneath it are finished in a metallic material, making the phone look very high end. The fact that the top and bottom edges of the chassis sport a slight curve make the phone stand out amongst the host of rectangular models available. At 3.7 inches, the screen is the same size as the new HTC Desire S, however this model does benefit from the display being LED backlit, offering better visibility in sunlight and a slight thinner profile. At 480 x 854 resolution, the Neo offer one of the highest clarity displays available, and what further enhances this is the fact it can also display up to 16 million colours. The display is also one of the first to use the Sony Bravia mobile engine, similar to what the brand fit on their home televisions and offer a perfect media viewing experience. Like previous offerings from the brand, the display is also finished in a scratch resistant finish, further adding to the appeal of this model. Around the edges of the phone you will find the familiar 3.5mm headphone socket and the micro USB port. In addition to this, there is also a mini HDMI connection to enable simple connection to a home television.Sony Ericsson handsets have always been great multi media devices, and the Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo is no exception. Camera wise, the phone sports an 8 mega pixel camera, plenty to capture a high quality image and roughly 3 million pixels more than the 5 mega pixel mark that has become the smartphone standard. The camera boasts some useful features such as autofocus and an LED flash. At just 380MB, the phones internal storage space is tiny, however a micro SD card slot enables memory to be added up to 32GB, with the manufacturer supplying an 8GB card with the phone. Video footage is pleasing with a resolution of 720P on offer. This is high definition standard and is record at a rate of 30 frames per second. The facility, like the camera, benefits from autofocus along with a video light for moments when lighting is less than perfect. There is also a secondary, front facing camera on the phone which is perfect for video calling or self portraits.The Sony Ericsson Neo offers styling that is a little different from the rest, combined with some great media facilities and a screen that is hard to beat.
