Since we are not professionals, there are a few things that one can take care before starting to shoot. Here are those key seven things that you should always keep in mind and believe me, these are simple things but we all manage to miss out on these. First of all, keep your digital camcorder ready to use. There are some special moments in life which just pop out of nowhere. Hence, if your camcorder is used frequently, it is better to charge it regularly so that whenever you feel like recording it is ready. Also, before those special occasions, one should get into a habit of putting your camcorder on charging a day before, just like you make out a list to finish your regular chores. One more thing to setup before you start recording is to check if you have done end search or not. This necessarily means that if you are recording on an already used tape and you should reach to the end of the prior recordings before starting your fresh one. This ensures that you do not either erase prior recordings or leave a long gap between two different recordings. Whenever you start recording, you must put in the date and time. This is one thing to remember. You may be in a hurry to start recording just to make sure you do not miss out something, but it is equally important to note down the date and time. At least your digital memory will never forget when the recording took place. So start two minutes before to make your camcorder ready digitally. Then once you have started recording, if it is an indoor shoot, make sure there is some background music. Quiet recordings appear to be dull when played later. When shooting outdoors, if you can not play any music, you can at least say some dialogues and announce the whereabouts of the recording as well as the purpose. Always make sure that there is enough light when shooting indoors. By sufficient light, it does not mean that the background should have light. This makes the recordings actually darker and looks like some black images against background white light. Learn to keep your hand steady. This definitely comes with practice. This does not mean that you need to be expert in shooting with a camcorder but at the same time; your movements should not be too fast or too slow. Learn to maintain the pace of the recording otherwise your video would either appear in fast track or too dull to watch. Lastly, make it a habit to switch off your digital camcorder whenever not in use and in between the shoots to save battery. Many times it happens that you keep recording everything else but when the final time comes, the battery has gone dead. Hence, learn to save battery and be wise to record only important occasions.
