After looking over the Intimus 402HS High Security Shredderwe were quite pleased with its specs. Now it may not be the cheapest onthe market but we think that the few extra bucks you'll spend will beworth it. Check out the specs below and judge for yourself.SecurityNSA Approved, this shredder sports level 6 security which shredsyour paper into sand-like particles. You only need this level ofsecurity if you are working in or with the government. The downside tolevel 6 machines is that you can generally only do a few sheets perpass and the cutting heads are more prone to damage from staples orpaper clips so you should always remove them to prolong the life ofyour machine. If you don't need this level of security we recommend youjusm to a level 3 or 4.Shredable MaterialThe Intimus 402HS High Security Shreddercan shred Paper. If you need to be able to shred something else then werecommend that you look at a larger machine and/or look for somethingwith a little bit lower security (the higher the security the lesslikelihood that the machine shreds something other than paper).Continuous MotorThis shredder is not rated for continuous use. That simply meansthat you will have to shut the machine down after a certain period oftime to let it cool off. Now don't let this scare you away because mostpeople will never reach that point unless they just sit down and startshredding and shredding and shredding. If you plan on doing all yourshredding at one sitting then it is highly recommended that you get amachine with a continuous duty motor, otherwise you're just fine.Bin SizeWith a 11.2 gallon bin, the Intimus 402HS High Security Shredder canhold a bit more shred than the smallest machines out there, but you'llstill be finding yourself emptying the bin fairly frequently. It isgreat if you need something to fit in a smaller space, but if you shredfrequently we recommend jumping up in bin size.Throat SizeThe 9.25 inch throat on this machine gives you a little bit ofbreathing room when you're shredding regular size paper and the optionto shred a few odd shaped things. If you really have large paper, thenyou'll need to look at machine with something larger than a 10" throat.Auto OilerThis machine does not come with an auto-oiler and does not have theoption to have one installed. Although automatic oilers are notnecessary to maintain your machine, they do take the guess-work out ofmaintenance.
