So you've got your first skateboard, but what do you do now? To start you'll need some good, hardwearing skate shoes to get on the board. Skating in normal shoes can be dangerous as you don't have an grip and can be uncomfortable most of all, skate shoes look awesome. One thing to note is that skate shoes will rip slightly with wear. This is normal, dont think that you are doing anything wrong when there are small rips in your shoes. You can also wear protection for your head and elbows, you may feel more comfortable and confident wearing protection. As you begin to skate more, you will feel safe without any protection.Start with balance, and then work forward to you moving on the board. Find out how which foot you use to push yourself, either your right or left foot. As you get more confident you make want to skate at skate parks and on ramps, learn tricks etc. You can learn these from skateboarding friends that may be at your school/college or you may meet them at the skate park itself. At skateparks, there are ramps and flows. When you feel confident ride up and down and the move onto tricks. If youve borrowed a board and you enjoy skateboarding you may want to buy one after a few weeks of skating. By then youll know whether you enjoy it or whether its not for you. Most importantly skateboarding is about having a laugh. Here's one of my favourite videos of skateboard tricks for inspiration :)
