Australia won the KFC 20Twenty cup by 2-0. Mike Hussey scored his maiden half century of his ODI career. He was lucky not to leave the pitch when he had only scored 2 runs thanks to a missed chance of stumping him. South African keeper, Mark Boucher, was not a popular man with fans of the Proteas that day. The host team, Australia, gained upon the South African total of 5-157 while there were still had 7 deliveries left till the end of the game.Ricky Ponting scored 38 runs. He and Hussey together put on a score of 61 runs. However, just when it appeared that they might stay on long enough to seriously start stressing out the Proteas, Morne Morkel got rid of the Australian skipper and his successor in the 13th over.Mike Hussey was truly a hero for the Australian side. He joined captain Ricky Ponting when the host cricket team was placed in a dicey position of 2-29 in the 7th over. Hussey stood firm at the crease and scored an unbeaten 53 of just 32 balls with the help of 5 boundaries and an over the top six. It was a pure cricket treat watching him go.The visitors were jubilated when Morkel, finding Ponting to be short of his ground, showed spectaculat presence of mind and the skill of a true ODI player by getting rid of him with his own fielding. Just moments later, a fine catch by JP Duminy down in the deep saw the end of David Hussey. He got out for just 2 runs. The tables turned for JP Duminy when just 4 over later, he let a catch drop. Cameron White had just scored 9 runs when the South African team got a chance to send him back to the dressing rooms but Duminy misjudged the catch and the ball went rolling across the boundary resulting in the first one in 4 consecutive ones by the usually sluggish White. This failed catch caused South Africa the match as they went on to require just 17 runs from from the last 3 overs. It didn't take long for Duminy to go from being a hero to a villain for the South African side. This point onward, there was no stopping the hosts. White equaled the score with a huge six of a delivery from Morkel. He reached an impressive score of 40 in just 18 deliveries. The highest scorer on the South African side remained Duminy who scored his 2nd half century which helped the Proteas to improve on their disastrous score of 5-157.Due to the absence of AB de Villiers form Tuesday's match, Duminy was pushed up in the batting order. The fact that he had scored an impressive 78 at Melbourne in the previous match had also raised his team's confidence in him. He did not disappoint and with the held of 7 boundaries and 2 sixes he made 69 runs off just 41 balls. However, South Africa needed more than just a one man show to save them. Hashim Amla, Mark Boucher and Albie Morkel were the only other teammates that made it into double figures. As for the Aussies, David Warner was also unable to deliver despite cracking an amazing 89 runs off just 43 deliveries in the previous match at MCG. He was clean bowled for just 7 runs by Dale Steyn. Shaun Marsh, who opened the innings with Warner couldn't stay on the pitch for long either. He joined Warner just a little while later after scoring only 15 runs. He was caught at mid-on by the South African team skipper Johan Botha.Hussey and Ponting didn't have it easy either. Initially they couldn't score at a good pace and hafway through the inning, they had only been able to move the score up to 2-56 with a staggering 10.2 runs an over towards the end. Ponting could not keep up but Hussey showed his metal and along with White he succeeded in putting on 69 runs without getting out.
