Happy 2020 everyone! Let’s get this new year off to a great start. Last year was good for many businesses but hopefully, this year can even be better. Many companies during the new year might be looking for new ways to market their business which is fine. These new marketing trends might prove to be very beneficial to your company. However, you should never lose focus on what has worked for you in the past. You can continue down this new path or tweak your past marketing efforts to fit your current needsI’m a digital marketer by trade and a firm believer in riding the hot hand. So if it was working for you last year you at least owe it to yourself to see if you can have continued success. Listed below are three tried and true marketing techniques that will still bring home the bacon in 2020.SEO has been around for many years some people say it dead or not effective anymore but that simply isn’t true. Who wouldn’t want to rank their site for high volume keywords and have floods of organic traffic rolling in? I know I do and its why search engine marketing is so valuable even in 2020.if you don’t know how to do SEO properly you will need to hire a reputable company. Look for a company that can provide case studies of work they have completed along with being honest and transparent with you. You will have many companies especially foreign ones that would sell you the moon if they can.The truth is SEO takes time and if your website currently doesn’t have a lot of authority it's going to take longer get these rankings. A good SEO company will know this and should target lower volume keywords as known as longtail. Think of these types of keywords as the low hanging fruit much easier to pick. In theory much easier to rank for. Get the easy wins where you can and then focus on targeting higher volume more competitive words.On new sites, you should see some ranking improvement within 3 to 6 months. Depending on how well your site is optimized and the number of quality backlinks that have been built. If you don’t see any improvement in your SERPS during this amount of time it means you or the company you hired are not doing something correctly.Next marketing media I would focus on PPC also known as pay per click marketing. PPC, when done correctly, can provide substantial benefits. When not done correctly you are through money straight out the door. Competitive keywords can get very costly in pay per click marketing.This is why I would recommend hiring an expert to set up your campaigns. If you must go this alone then focus on these 3 things, ad copy, well designed relevant landing page, bid amount.Pay per click marketing can be done in conjunction with SEO. When working with new sites or new keywords that I am trying to target I like to run an ad campaign to help bring in leads until I’m able to get these keywords to rank well with SEO. Once they begin to rank I would scale back the amount of money that is being allocated to PPC campaigns targeting these words. I know that was kind of a mouthful and hope that it makes sense for you.The good thing about PPC is you have multiple advertising opportunities. Surely one can fit your company needs from Google Adwords, Bing, and multiple social media sites that allow for paid marketing.My last and final suggestion would be email marketing. I am talking about permission-based, targeted email marketing. Not a bought list or deliberately spamming people. The way I look at it if they didn’t subscribe to your site or through some promo you ran than honestly, I wouldn’t send an email to them.A conversion rate for an unsolicited email is roughly around 2%. Do we want to focus our efforts on something that only producing around 2% I know I don’t? This is why I focus on building an opt-in list that I spend the time to verify and clean throughout the year.All email accounts that I can’t verify as active I remove from my list. The reason I do this is for one is to help the campaigns open and the conversion rate will be much better and secondly, each email sent has a cost associated with it. So why would I want to waste time and money sending emails to dead or none active accounts?Email marketing is good to help generate business but is even better at creating brand awareness amongst your list. Think about it you can get your company name, products and services in front of them by simply sending an email.I would recommend hiring a company that offers opt in email marketing services. They should be able to help your company build your list and design great looking emails that convert.I Will Leave You With Thisif you are a small business and going to try to do the marketing yourself remember to test and keep track of the results. Don't be afraid to move on once you feel that a certain marketing technique is not working for you.The above-mentioned techniques I have used to help build my business. However, there was some trial and error to find what worked best for my company and business type Marketing is not plug and play so do research and test what techniques seem to work for your business niche.
