Automation technologies represent a fundamental aspect of any modern industry. The major types of industrial automation solutions, such as DCS, PLC, SCADA, and MES, are used on a large-scale in process and discrete industries.DCS technologie Awhile ago, I got an email from one of the "gurus" I follow and it shocked me. The gist of it was this person wanted to trade services for a household item.To say it floored me would be an understatement. What was worse was a few days later t
Google has recently launched a device which aims at informing the doctors about their patients' health, and the process of their health even between checkups. This new device is a new sensor-integrated wristband, which is capable of collecting information on vital signs. The wristband can measure the patient's heart rhythm, skin temperature, and pulse, as well as the surrounding environmental conditions such as noise levels and light exposure.Google X, which is Google's experimental research division, developed this new smart wristband. Unlike other smart bands or wristbands that are Google Android software powered, which have health tracking features, the new wristband is not meant for the regular consumers. The wristband is designed to cater only to patients. The patients are required to wear the band during their drug tests and clinical trials, and this data can further be used by the medical professionals and researchers to understand the patient's health a bit more in detail. The intention behind the use of this smart wristband is to get a complete picture of the activities taking place in a patient's' body with respect to their health, even if they don't get their health checked regularly. However, doctors are being reluctant to integrating these wearables into their patient care as they seem a little less confident about the accuracy of the data recorded by the device's. The data recorded still requires validation or some kind of authentication, to enable its use. The physicians will need devices which have the medical-grade sensors that can take precise readings, in order to even accept these wearables. As said by Andy Conrad, who is heads Google’s life science team, this technology is intended towards unlocking a whole new class of continuous medical-grade information, which can deduce patterns that are easily understood by its users and help them manage patients with serious health issues.Google, as observed has started expanding the scope of its projects in order to come out with the most innovative products. Many other brands such as Apple are also investing heavily in the sensor technology in order to improve its smart home solutions. Google on the other hand has made big bets on products ranging from smartphones to wearable devices and to driverless cars. The wristband made by Google is still in its experimental phase and the company along with drug makers and academic researchers are working together to make sure the device and its sensors are able to record information/data accurately, which is helpful to the medical professionals. The same sensor technology is now being used by Google to develop smart lens, which is in fact another Google X project. The smart lens by Google is meant to measure the glucose levels in the tears of the diabetic patients. Google recently announced that it was partnering with the pharmaceutical giant Novartis in carrying out smart lens projectKeeping the growing demand of the sensor technology and sensor wearables in the market in the coming near future, Mordor Intelligence has worked on a report exclusively on the Wearable Sensors Market that contains a detailed information on the multiple sensor markets and multiple leading players in the market. The report also contains information on the potential the wearable sensors global market holds currently and during the forecasted period (2014-2019).
