I wanted to share a simple trick that I recently used with great success. First, a little background info to make sure you are continuing to read something that you find interesting and informational. I work in real estate sales and online marketing using web design with SEO work. Obviously, my goal is to attract as much traffic as possible from those looking to buy or sell real estate in our market.I started researching and learning about the importance of choosing a domain name. It's published all over the internet to use keywords in the domain name, so this was a given. Another route is to choose something catchy and easy to remember for those who may write the name in to the browser. I chose the first method and bought something with keywords.I took it a step further and actually bought the most common search string in the domain. The market I work in has a high-end area that is basically an island without condos. It's just homes. The homes on this island start around $300,000 and go up to well over $4 million dollars. Because there are no condos, it was an easy choice and I went with "(name of island) homesforsale.com based from what I think is the most common search used from buyers looking to sell.I noticed that in a very short time, I had passed by all of the other websites marketing homes for sale in this area. This was not a quick "moonlighting" term in which Google placed me there to gauge interest and then stuck me on page 5. The site has held its ground and has maintained the #1 spot for a year now. In additional research, I found that Bing relies even more on the domain name as it relates to the actual search string.Using this philosophy, I've built numerous condo websites, subdivision websites and area webistes and use all of the sites to direct traffic to our main sales website. I now use these smaller webistes with search-string domains as a blog network of sorts. It allows me to continuously add info and create back links. It's been a great way for me to create an entire network and tie it in to eachother. (Note: I do not link all the sites to one another and link everything to everything, but instead, use a "link wheel" View info on the link wheel here)I apologize for cutting this short, but this site did not save something and I'm not going to write it again, but the message I wanted to share is in here.
