Automation technologies represent a fundamental aspect of any modern industry. The major types of industrial automation solutions, such as DCS, PLC, SCADA, and MES, are used on a large-scale in process and discrete industries.DCS technologie Awhile ago, I got an email from one of the "gurus" I follow and it shocked me. The gist of it was this person wanted to trade services for a household item.To say it floored me would be an understatement. What was worse was a few days later t
As a business coach over the past 13 years, heres what I havediscovered: Everyone is silently begging to be led. Now there aretwo schools of coaching if you will:1) The first says you cannot and should not advise. You must pull answers onlyfrom what the client says.2) The second is more like consulting and I believe in this type because thatswhat I pay for.Every once in a while its nice when a coach asks, What do youthink you should do? This allows the client to coach herself which isempowering. But, my personal feeling is, if Im going to invest money forsomeones expertise, then I want direction. I want best practices, I want thatpersons intuition and all of that as well. The truth is, most people arebegging to be led.Thomas Leonard, the founder of CoachU and Coachville did a surveyand the number one thing clients asked for was a strong coach because they arelooking for direction, reassurance and confidence. I found thatfascinating. So no matter what you do, from holistic coaching to business, people want a strong and loving coach. The combination is important to build aproductive coaching relationship.Clients may seek direction and guidance, but, there is a caveat. In certain circumstances when you dont have the knowledge to consult, you say,Well Susan, I cant advise you in this because its not within my realm ofexpertise. Youve got to do your due diligence, check in with your intuition, and get the facts first. So I cant tell you what to do. But I can say if itwere me, I would probably do this. One of the first things I learned in coach training, during themodel on advising, was to be very careful. Ask clients to make theirown decisions. You can suggest, if it feels right to you, then to be sureclients gain confidence in making their own decisions once the information isgathered. There is also room for asking clients what they think they shoulddo. I dont believe clients want that 100% of the time, but it worksvery well from time to time and is highly empowering.Your Client Attraction AssignmentOf the two coaching styles, which one do you use more often? Consultative orthe hands off approach? Remember that if you tend to be highly directive, itcan be a good switch to ask your client what she thinks to guide her to makefuture decisions on her own.
