Any trade show installation can come with problems. Although it's best to try to avoid them, it's inevitable that something will pop up and cause trouble. Here are some common issues that companies bringing their trade show booths to an event can run into and what you can do to anticipate them. What Happens If Your Trade Show Stand Arrives Broken? An exhibit that arrives broken can be a disaster. Bringing a small tool kit with Allen wrenches, screwdrivers, screws, a hammer, tape and even a sewing kit can help with minor repairs on site. To avoid needing this emergency kit in the first place, make sure to pack your trade show installation carefully. Many come with a special hard case filled with protective packing foam. These cases often have cutouts for each individual piece of your booth and are specially made to keep pieces safe during shipping. Some Trade Show Booths May Not Fit On A Plane Or In A Car Even though trade show booths are designed to pack up small, it's not always feasible to pack them with your luggage on a plane or a car for an out of town event. Instead, ship it directly to the event. If you do go this route, make sure to leave enough time to allow for transit because some shipping carriers can take weeks to ship items. To make shipping easier, ensure that all previous shipping labels have been completely removed. If they appear to be stuck or leave sticky residue, you can find products that can remove the residue without damaging the case at any home improvement store. Power Outages Can Leave You In The DarkYou can't always count on power. Mix-ups can happen at any time - you could forget an extension cord, have your trade show installation moved to a location that isn't near a power outlet or the venue itself could lose power. To plan for a power outage, make sure your employees know everything and can talk knowledgeably about your products and services, without relying on computers, music, special lighting or other electrical elements. Stress Is InevitableEven the best-planned event can cause some stress. Even if everything is going perfectly, something can suddenly go wrong. Instead of getting upset or stressed, let everything roll off your back. If you have a bad interaction with a potential client, don't take it out on the next person you talk to. They'll be confused and wonder what they did to earn your annoyance. Instead, treat every person like they're the first one you've met that day and you'll leave potential customers with a great impression. Preparing to take an exhibit to an event can be almost as big of a job as the event itself. There are travel arrangements, promotional materials and more to worry about. Don't just think of the details before the event; instead, prepare for any issues that could cause you problems once you get to the event.
