It's not enough anymore to have attractive displays for trade shows. Most attendees at these events have been to plenty of other conventions, and they're so jaded by the constant onslaught of information that they may simply breeze by your booth without taking the time to learn more about your company. You need some reliable ways to lure attendees into the heart of your booth, where you can fully engage them. Reaching out and grabbing people when they glance at your banner stand won't do it. So what does work?1. Be Interactive With Your Audience Whether you're launching a new product or you've updated an old one, demonstrations always get better audiences for trade show displays than static booths with no action. Displays for trade shows should include a brief demonstration with the chance for visitors to ask questions afterward. The beauty of this approach is that the very presence of a small group of interested people will naturally draw people in. Use the audience as a magnet. Speak clearly, but don't shout. If attendees are interested - and they will be - they should have to step into your booth space to hear what you're saying. Leverage a group of two or three people and turn them into a crowd. 2. Use Your Displays For Trade Shows To Offer IncentivesMost of your booth space will tout your company's products or services, but it can help to add a banner stand that intrigues people and lures them in. A banner strategically placed where the most passersby will see it could say, 'Find out how YOU can win big at Booth #34.' People love winning, and most of them will gladly fill out a short contact sheet for the chance to win a gift certificate, prize, or cash. Just make sure the prize is valuable enough to truly tempt them. One caveat: you can use displays for trade shows to tout a prize, but keep that prize relevant to your industry.3. Make Attendees Comfortable It's a simple formula: build displays for trade shows that are comfortable and inviting, and they will come. In fact, if your booth flooring is cushioned and you have cold bottles of water available, most visitors will linger, giving you the perfect opening to start a dialogue. You can even ramp this up a bit by offering packaged snacks like trail mix or cookies. Just be sure the food and beverages are at the back of your booth so that anyone seeking refreshments will need to come into your booth space.4. Choose Interactive Displays That Entertain. Interactive games and virtual reality experience simulators are a great way to hook people's interest by providing a welcome diversion to making the seemingly endless round of booths. Tie the experience being offered to your product or service in some way as a seamless progression. If you sell outdoor gear or mountain climbing equipment, for example, a rock wall would be a good fit.5. Take Advantage of Social MediaFoursquare and Twitter are dynamic ways to reach people before and during an event. Short updates throughout the day will draw visitors to your trade show displays. Announce a drawing or giveaway that's for a limited time only to entice visitors to your booth during slow periods on the event floor.6. Make Sure Your Banner Stands Are Doing Their JobHave you ever stood several booths away from your own stand? Many people never look at their exhibit through the eyes of potential customers. Stand several spaces away and evaluate your banner stand. Can you see it clearly, or is it too small or fussy to read? Remember to keep your trade show displays simple and bold and address a perceived need.If you already have professional-looking displays for trade shows, you've won half the battle. To win the war, be sure you try several approaches to entice people into your booth. At least one of the approaches above can help you seal the deal and turn your trade show displays into money makers.
