Notable portable displays are likely to stand out in a visitor's mind, but many can be off-putting, driving away possible traffic rather than bringing in new business. Marketers don't have to choose between an eye-catching design and something that will make visitors feel at home; the key is to blend these two, achieving a strong impact that attracts more business.Bright Colors Don't Always Lead To Successful Trade Show DisplaysExperts often say that bright colors are a great way to draw attention. They're right, but bright colors can also have a negative effect on people who observe them. People may feel ill at ease around neons, or may feel uncomfortable around a very bright orange or red. For some, particularly vibrant hues can even hurt their eyes. If it's not comfortable for visitors to be around your trade show displays simply because of the colors you've chosen, it doesn't matter how eye-catching those colors are: you won't get the best results.A Packed Booth Isn't The Right SolutionWherever a crowd gathers, more tend to flock and the group will snowball. That's excellent for marketing your trade show displays and getting people to come visit, but having a physically packed unit isn't a good idea. People may want to see what's going on, but they will turn away if they have to press past others just to get inside. You should aim to have your booth be crowded, but never so crowded that it's impossible to navigate. To help achieve this, ensure that your portable displays utilize podiums or banners in the middle of the booth area with a lot of care and attention given to placement. Don't include them simply because you feel the space shouldn't be empty. If you do choose to include them, ensure that they are large enough that people will see them and be able to comfortably maneuver around. Make the units substantially taller than the crowd whenever possible so that even people who can't get close to the podium itself can still understand what's being presented. Added Comfort In Portable DisplaysAfter you've determined physical comfort by ensuring only mild crowding and minimizing optical pain from bright colors, you might consider what some designers call 'creature comforts'. These are things that won't be found in basic booths, and would be added purely for their value in making visitors feel comfortable. The two most common examples of this are free bottled water and seating areas. Bottled water can be quite a luxury at conventions, where water is available only from expensive vendor carts, if it can be obtained at all. Giving it away can make a powerful statement to visitors for exactly this reason. Placing a seating area within an exhibit is much more challenging. Water can simply be stored behind the booth; a seating area requires special design for many portable displays. The reward can be well worth it, but make sure that your staff is monitoring the chairs to ensure that people do vacate them and make room for others.
