No matter how big your company is, your convention presence won't just be large shows. Sooner or later, you'll want to exhibit somewhere small. Perhaps you'll be demonstrating information at a college to an elite group of potential new clients. Or maybe you'll be presenting your newest research findings before an academic committee. Whatever the reason, many companies are surprised to find themselves working with a small scale space and scrambling to make a suitable presentation.Be Aware Of Your SpaceYour large trade show displays won't work in a cramped environment. Even worse, they can look out of place and overly imposing. For this type of venue, you want something smaller. You're not competing with vast crowds of other companies; you're trying to appeal to each individual at the event on a more personal level. Your design should absolutely reflect this. In this situation, you want to do the opposite. You might even consider making a dedicated area for people to sit, perhaps at some kind of bar with stools. Comfortably seated, they can have a conversation with your staff and learn more about your company at their leisure.Ensure That Your Trade Show Displays Are ComplementaryOne of the best ways to ruin your presence at a small gathering is by putting too much information on your portable displays. People at a small gathering expect face-to-face interaction; they don't want to read everything off the side of table top displays. You should let the table top displays complement what you have to say, something that shows passersby what your company is, and inspires them to come learn more. Don't expect people to spend too much time reading; they're going to want to talk to you. Don't Overly Staff Your BoothThe more intimate feeling of a smaller space requires that you plan accordingly in every way, including limiting the number of staff you bring to the event. Bring too many, and you risk overwhelming your visitors and making them feel unwelcome. Yet bring too few, and people will think that you didn't plan properly and walk away discouraged because they couldn't start a conversation about your products. To determine the right amount of staff, you should first estimate the number of attendees. Once you have that number, consider the size of your space and determine how many are likely to be there at any given time. If your space is smaller, you will logically have fewer visitors at a time and need less staff. In a large space, you can expect a larger volume and should staff your trade show displays accordingly.
