Topware Interactive manufactures computer games, including the highly popular game Dream Pinball 3D. A woman who uploaded a number of games and movies onto the Internet was ordered by a judge to pay sixteen thousand pounds for doing so. The main theme was that she uploaded these files with the intent of illegal file sharing, and Topware Interactive had advokat David Gore filed a suit in the Patents County Court in London. The court ordered the unspecified woman, whose name has not been released, to pay costs including the fee for the advokat in the amount ten thousand pounds, and to pay damages in the amount of six thousand pounds. The case started a month before, when the law firm of Davenport Lyons filed civil proceedings concerning one hundred individuals who their client, Topware Interactive, had reason to believe were guilty of illegally uploading content which is copyrighted. In addition, ISPs have been ordered to release thousands of addresses and names that are believed to be file sharers who have broken the law. Advokat David Gore stated to reporters that file sharing illegally is an issue which is very serious, and copyright owners lose millions of pound each year because of these criminal activities. All four people were ordered by the judge to pay the company Two thousand seven hundred and fifty pounds each, for a total judgment for Topware Interactive that is more than ten thousand pounds just in these four cases. Each defendant was ordered to pay two thousand pounds each in costs, and seven hundred and fifty pounds each for fines.
