I think my personality suits a Mediterranean time-table. For whatever reason, I really do find that taking a siesta in the afternoon is a very civilized way in which to progress through ones day! I know that some people find it simply doesn't suit them to have a short snooze during the day; they wake up feeling tired and grumpy instead of refreshed and rejuvenated. When your body is tired, it is telling you something. If you are a fairly determined person you will find yourself pressing forwards and trying to get things done, no matter how tired you feel. You only allow yourself to rest as a last resort. This can be a very good thing in many ways; you are not easily deterred and you get a lot done in your day. But there is a flip side; when you are tired neither your brain nor your body will function in top gear. Additionally, you will not feel in the best of humor; you may tend to experience a sense of pressure and frustration even though you are keeping on doing the things which need to be done. This makes you focus more and more on the future; you say to yourself "once this is done I will be able to relax". But does that time ever come? Most of the times when you are tired but busy you do not feel that you have the time to relax. You simply have too much to do. But, if you were to allow yourself just a short time in which to recharge your batteries you are likely to find that you get a lot more done in a short time when functioning on full power than you would in a longer time spent at half power. Not only that, it would definitely be a whole lot more enjoyable. The time needed to relax and recharge need not be long; just twenty minutes can work miracles, so long as you use them wisely. Your attitude will affect how tired you feel as well. Think for a moment about the feeling of falling in love. Close your eyes and recreate those feelings of excitement and anticipation. Remember how you would fall asleep for a few hours and then awaken, fully alert, full of the joys of spring! You'll probably recall many nights when you could barely get to sleep because you were so excited. Your bodily sense of tiredness is very much related to your emotional responses to what is going on in your life. How you see things will dictate the degree to which you feel tired. Consider when you are fed up with things; when you are feeling low your whole body feels sluggish and all you want to do is to crawl under the bed covers and sleep. Thus you have the ability to combat tiredness simply by changing your perception of things. You can also take a step back from things for a few moments and take time to think about things which make you feel good; in effect you can intentionally give yourself a natural release of endorphins - those same endorphins which are released automatically when you are in love or when the sun is shining. It is easy to provide your mind with a mental spa break with the help of hypnosis. It doesn't take hours; rather it just takes minutes. You can also use the power of your mind to provide yourself with an instantaneous endorphin download, leaving you feeling rejuvenated and refreshed.
