The technology behind listening devices has improved dramatically in recent years, giving new hope to those with impairment. While still far from a perfect replacement for the natural ability to hear, these devices give those with a disabili If the vagina is not offering the firm grip to your male partner, he expresses displeasure in lovemaking. Give me 5 minutes and I can tell you what mainstream medicine doesn't know or doesn't want you to know.It is estimated one billion dollars is spent on PSA testing and much, much more on prostate cancer treatment in the form of surgery and radiation. New research does not support this kind of treatment.Prostate cancer is a real concern for many men. It is estimated that beyond 70 years of age, 80% of all men will have prostate cancer. The good news is that in spite of the high incidence of prostate cancer, very few die because of this type of cancer. They die with it present instead of from it.PSA (prostate specific antigen) testing was considered the reliable indicator of prostate cancer. Research that came to a head in 2004 has shown that PSA levels are not an accurate or reliable indicator of cancer. What it really measures is inflammation in the prostate gland. The inflammation can come from many different causes and usually results in BPH (benign prostate hyperplasia). There is little or no evidence the BPH causes prostate cancer, even though it is increasingly more prevalent with age.Typical treatment for prostate cancer by mainstream medicine is surgery or radiation. This is problematic and now believed (in recent research) to be contra-indicated in the majority of cases where it is done. Saw palmetto frequently shows up in research articles on prostate health. It is a primary ingredient in most prostate supplements. Dr. David Williams, a world leader in alternatives research, reported on one such study. The study involved 505 patients with enlarged prostate (BHP). They were given 160 mg of saw palmetto two times a day. The results were measured by the International Prostate Symptom Score involving several considerations of prostate health. The results after 90 days of supplementation found 88% successful treatment as discerned by the patients and the physician.Research in the New England Journal of Medicine reported on a huge prostate study done on 76,693 men. One half of the group received cancer treatment based upon the belief that early detection and treatment would save lives. Unfortunately the death rate was just the same with or without treatment by surgery and radiation. This standard treatment has resulted in some serious side effects. There is increased risk of impotency, infertility, penis shrinkage, and bowel problems. Frankly, there is an aggressive form of prostate cancer that can be serious and terminal. Research at Harvard University, and Dr. Peter Waterman of New South Wales, Australia have documented favorable alternative treatments. Dr. Waterman has shown promising results with the supplementation of HP-8 (saw palmetto, bromelain, licorice root, willow leaf, grape seed complex, wild rose calyx, passion fruit seed & selenium) No toxicity was found with this formulation. The study was quite small and more studies and documentation is needed before its efficacy is proven without controversy.Studies in the U. S. research centers such as Harvard University have shown significantly reduced prostate cancer with raw vegetables, especially the cruciform (cabbage, kale, Brussels sprouts, broccoli). The bottom line seems to be whole, unprocessed foods have phytonutrients, enzymes, catalysts, minerals, vitamins, flavenoids that are not present in processed and adulterated foods. There are some exceptions, especially the carotenes in particular when they are cooked and can release more anti cancer effect.Less than optimal hormone levels are associated with some cancers. The cruciform vegetables, containing indol-3-carbinol, appear to reduce hormone dependent cancers such as prostate. The sulfur amino acids found in cruciform vegetables are also associated with a wide range of various cancer suppressions. A Harvard study found from 30% to 70% reduction of various cancers when these vegetables were consumed on a regular daily basis. Quercetin, found in onions and garlic has shown potent antioxidant and anti cancer properties. John Hopkins Medicine Prostate Bulletin reports that an estimated 90% of prostate cancers have a dietary link. Tomato products, rich in lycopene, demonstrated a 34% reduced prostate cancer rate in a study done at Harvard on 47,894 men. The men consumed 10 or more servings of tomato products per week. In this case the cooked or processed tomato product proved more effective than the fresh tomatoes did. Generally fresh, raw outperforms the cooked or processed foods. There may also be carcinogens in the U.S. environment and in the raw food chain that confuse the results plus heating destroys many enzymes found in raw vegetables.Asians generally have a low rate of prostate cancer. When they come to the U. S. and consume our diet their prostate cancer rate goes up just like the rest of the population. Asian diets consist of more natural foods and especially those that are high in the omega 3's (coming from more fish and less meats). Because less meat is consumed there is less arachidonic acid. The EPA from fish and the arachidonic acid from meat compete for the same enzymes in the 5-LOX pathway. The metabolites of arachidonic acid stimulate cancer and its spread. The omega 3 (EPA) arrests or inhibits the development of cancer by reducing the 5-LOX product. The diet is important because CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) is shown to inhibit cancer. There are many ingredients in the natural foods (raw vegetables) that are needed or influence the assimilation of needed nutrients. They defend against cancer. Available in the natural food are anti-oxidants, flavenoids, enzymes, biocatalysts and unknown phytonutrients. Processed foods and modified foods and animal foods seem to come up short.Green tea with its catechins, turmeric, cumin, ginger, garlic, saw palmetto, pygeum have reported cancer inhibiting results. The beta glucans of mushrooms have shown very dramatic anti-cancer properties. Antioxidant vitamins A, C and E and minerals zinc and selenium all are important as anti inflammatory and immune building against cancer. John Hopkins Prostate Bullein reports that a large study demonstrated a 63% reduction in prostate cancer for men taking a selenium supplement. In a nutshell, a good diet rich in natural, unprocessed foods, adequate supplement levels, and heavy in the spices co-relates to a low incidence of rapid growing prostate cancer in numerous studies.
