Ladies speak a whole different language than the gentleman in their lives. While men speak lawn tools, car and driver or all sports all the time, ladies tend to be more capable of speaking the language of cosmetics, shoes and handbags. As conversationalists, the distinguishing topics between women and men can sound like a foreign language. Women can bond with a complete stranger over a nice handbag or a fabulous pair of shoes. For men, striking up a conversation with a stranger tends to focus on basketball, football, soccer, or any other sport where a ball gets kicked, thrown or punted. Forget stock market trends and politics, the ladies want to learn where to scoop up the accessories that they want or need, depending on who you ask. While attending a party, the dividing line always seems to occur between the ladies and the men. The ladies congregate in the kitchen, chatting about the kids and the latest news around the neighborhood or in the family. Meanwhile the men will hang out close to a television where they watch a ball game or an event. While the ladies catch up, the men tend to linger in quiet conversations about what theyve seen on television. These types of outings are always overshadowed by the children who run from mother to father, back and forth. Kids go to their mother to ask for money which their mother pulls from her handbags and then they go to their father and ask for money and the dad will dig into his wallet. The kids will run off to purchase some candy or popsicles from the ice cream truck. These types of events are such a thrill for the children who look forward to an outing at their friends or families home. The benefit of these types of gatherings is it allows families to get to know one another and form a familiarity both for the adults and the children. The dizzying pace of life often keeps us from participating in social situations which we enjoy. We spend so much time doing the things we have to do and spend less time doing the things we want to do. The saying, It takes a village to raise a family is never more true than today. With all of the horrible things that go on in the world, it is important for families to foster relationships with family members and friends where the adults with similar values to come together and interact with one another. The children are raised with similar values and rules which help parents reinforce boundaries and set expectations for rules and privileges. These gatherings end up being as beneficial to the parents as to the children and enhance the social interactions of both the parents and the children. However, gatherings such as this highlight the differences between men and women. The men may check on the kids once or twice during the visit while the ladies seem to find their way into the kids areas several times an hour, just to make sure things are okay. As the ladies visit with one another, a few ladies may break off from the group to have a side conversation or discuss a topic not fit for the entire group; they continue to look out for one anothers kids. Even though these gatherings tend to stray from family interactions to the ladies chatting about the latest items found at the department stores or who has leather handbags on sale. The men might catch up on the latest sporting events or recent news, it still provide everyone with an outlet to meet their social needs. At the very least, these gatherings allow everyone to catch up with friends, have some time with people who they share common interests and enjoy one anothers company.
