Eli Matityahu’s recent photographic series masterfully weaves together architecture and abstraction within a minimalist aesthetic. Working in predominantly digital, black-and-white photography on fine art paper, Matityahu captures striking architectural monuments with piercing clarity. The artist’s marriage of sinuous curves and geometric forms renders a nearly abstract quality within his works. Often placed upon a stark, black background, Matityahu’s buildings writhe and twist upwards, outwards, and towards the viewer, emanating an anthropomorphic playfulness. The artist brings movement to the immovable, and imbues interesting, unyielding cityscapes with new life.
