I love movies.Sure, I love reading more, but sometimesmovies provide a sense of relaxation different from a book.A movie is a fixedlength, it uses a different part of my concentration- essentially amovie-watching experience is just extremely different from reading a book.Thisis one of the reasons why it is so difficult to please me when movies are basedoff of books I love.I will admit I am very difficult to please when it comes tomovies based on books, but these three romances are a few movies I actuallythink did their novels justice.1.The Notebook, by Nicholas Sparks. This is oneof the few cases where I think the moviewas actually better than the book.Dont get me wrong; Sparkss book was a greatromantic novels...But the film has Ryan Gosling in it.Any woman will admit amovie gains major points for featuring Ryan gosling as the hero. This story isabout a summer romance which turns into a deep love. And the ending is sweetlysad and wonderful. There are those who claim they cannot watch The Notebookwithout crying, but I am not one of those people. For me, the ending is a happyone. It is about as romantic as you can get with old people and death involved.(Ihope that wasnt too much of a spoiler for anybody who hasnt seen this greatromance yet.) 2.Gone With the Wind, by Margaret Mitchell. There may be somedebate as to whether or not this book qualifies as technically a romance novel, because it also deals with issues such as the civil war and the changes asociety makes after a tragedy, but for our purposes, we will declare tI aromance. In my opinion, the relationship between Scarlett and Rhett Butler makesGone With the Wind one of the greatest romance novels of our time. The film is aclassic. It is an old movie (they bragged about it being in technicolor), verylong, but brilliantly done.Vivian Leigh is a feisty Scarlett and Clark Gablecannot be anybody in my mind except for Rhett Butler. If you havent seen GoneWith the Wind, or read the book, do both as soon as you can. They are both long, but when you finish them, you will wish they were longer.3.The Twilight Series,by Stephanie Meyer.Twilight has had a lot of bad press on the Internet in pastyears, but one cannot argue that these books and films are a wild success.Personally,I have read all the books and seen all of the films; they arent my favorites, but I list them here because they arent as horrible as they are made out to be.Yes,the romance between Bella and Edward can seem a bit obsessive to an adultreader, but one must remember that these books are for teens.I read them when Iwas a teenager myself, and I didnt find anything odd about the relationshipbetween the characters at the time. For a teen, love is obsessive andall-consuming.Because the Twilight books accurately represent that, I includethem on the best romance movies made from books list. The film accuratelyportrays the books, which accurately portray teenage hormones. Now that youveread this articleArticle Search, perhaps you can have a movie night at yournext bookclub meeting.Discuss some differences and similarities.I know I lovewatching a romance based on a book with someone else who has read the book...Itallows for so much discussion!
