Know your event objective. If the aim of the event is to educate people then the entertainment is not the key element of the event. You would do better to use some light form of entertainment during the break to help attendees unwind and rel Music is a vast sea and there are lots of singers in the world who earn so much fame because of their singing, voice and style and Rob Thomas is one of them. He is one of the best singers whose songs become very popular and he has great fan
Sing from your diaphragm. Sing from your diaphragm! Have you ever heard this before?Ugh! What does that even mean? It seems to be a common directionwhen people talk about proper singing technique (although the personwho used to tell me this is a horrible singer).I have had three voice teachers over my time of study (all withlegitimate music degrees in vocal performance), and not a single one ofthem talked about the diaphragm. That doesnt mean there isntphysiological merit in mentioning the diaphragm, its just hard for anew singer to visualize and work on.Yes, it is true that breathing is a fundamental element of singingwell. When youre singing, there are a lot of things going on mentallyand physically, and that distracts from what you really need to bedoing: breathing naturally. Here are a few tips Ive learned along the way that can help you getstarted on proper singing breathing (without all the useless andconfusing physiology that seems to get thrown around):Lie on your back (couch, floor, bed) and just relax and breathe.Just like when youre sleeping, your chest and your abdomen are goingto expand and contract (filling the lungs with air, and then pushingout). This is what natural breathing feels like, and its the verysensation you should be going for when you sing.Keep your shoulders down. A very bad habit thatmany new singers get into is lifting the shoulders to breathe. Youdont do this when you naturally breathe or talk, so why would you doit when youre singing? You dont have to be all stiff and wooden (youmay be sitting with a guitar, at a piano, on a stool at a coffee shop),you just want to be aware if youre struggling to get air in. Liftingyour shoulders to breathe is a good sign that your putting too mucheffort into it.Think out not up. Very related to the shoulderawareness, think about your chest and your abdomen moving out (like aballoon or an accordion) both on the front and the back side. You wantto get as much air on the inhale as possible, but it shouldnt be agasp. There is a little movement going up and down, but if youvisualize out instead of up, youre going to get better expansion, and full set of air from your lungs.Control Your Exhale. Getting the air in your lungsis only the first part. Controlling how the air goes out, is the trickypart. This is where singing does take a detour from natural breathing. How well you control your exhale will have a lot of influence on yourvocal power, how long you can hold the note, and even how in tune youare. One technique that always helped me get this is taking a naturalbut full inhale (dont lift your shoulders) and exhaling with tssssound (a sss sound through the teeth). Its kind of like a hissingsnake but not with the mouth open. Hold out the sound for as long asyou can. Over time youll notice that you can hold this out longer.Relax. You need your breathing to be relaxed andfluid. Good singing is actually more about releasing and relaxing thanit is about tensing and pushing. Aerobic exercise will help you here,as well as stress relief (massage, aromatherapy, meditation, etc). Ifyoure all stiff and tense, youre going to have more of a struggletrying to improve. These are the techniques that helped me crack the mystery that issinging breathing. The vast majority of voice teachers and learningmethods will provide specific exercises that focus on developingbreath. Eventually it will come naturally, so the best advice I cangive is dont try to force anything.
