This is sad, just sad I say! Last month we told you how prolific writer Warren Ellis was in the process of writing a script for The Hollywood Gang. Today we find out Bryan Singer has finally won the rights to Boormans Excalibur, and the want to remake it. What the #*!) is going on? Is nothing sacred? Variety reports that Warner Bros is dead set on ruining Excalibur with a moden day retelling. Boormans film was based on the definitive medieval Arthur tale, Morte dArthur. Why would Singer and Warner Brothers think they can improve on this movie. Heres a clip of our previous article on what we think of the original Excalibur This one of the classics, it would be like someone trying to remake The Ten Commandments. You just cant remake a classic. The original EXCALIBUR had brilliance to it that you cant duplicate. The sexual desire, Fantasy and metaphor that were woven into the tapestry of the 1981 EXCALIBUR were mind blowing. Even today you can watch it and find new mean in it. Its a movie that transcended film. Its one of those rare fantasy movies that open your mind. You know what it late. Im going to go to bed and when I wake up maybe this story never happened. Im going to go to bed and dream about a time when Hollywood look to put out original movies, instead of trying their hardest to ruin the movies of my childhood.
