Australia, which known for its natural wonders, its deserts and beaches being ravaged by one of the biggest and worst wildfires seen in decades. According to media report, over 18 million hectares have been burned and affected, more than 28 people have died and nearly 3000 homes have been damaged or destroyed. Federal and state authorities are facing huge challenges to contain these massive blazes even taking help of firefighters from various countries including United States. Areas of New South Wales and Victoria were affected the most where most of the damages were found. This huge crisis creates a huge concern for the Government and authorities of the country to reallocate normal living conditions of the people who were suffered from this disastrous natural calamity. The Bushfire incident raised few concerns nationwide. Out of these, the main concern is whether students are safe, whether students who are from different countries and regions are secured and protected? As per local news sources, both government and university authorities are contributing strong supports to the students who are affected by this incident. According to the report, we found that, Universities across Australia, including in Canberra, Newcastle and Wollongong have to shut down their campuses to protect their students from the Bushfire incident. More than 95,000 students are from the pretentious zones. From the past experience, the sheer magnitude and scale of the bushfires can affect a student’s life both directly and indirectly. We have found from the previous report, disasters and tragedies can produce both emotional and cognitive impacts on student's learning. Major problem for the students who are from different nations are health related. The intense smoke stemming from the fires deteriorates the air quality of these regions. According to January 2020 reports, massive bushfires produce harmful and poisonous smoke which can cause fatalities for foreign students. Students who accommodate close to fire regions can face health related risks as the air contains a mixture of hazardous particles and gases. These can irritate the eyes and cause problems to respiratory system. The WHO Report indicated that, the impact of smoke inhalation and exposure can cause serious disorders including asthma, bronchitis and irritation to eyes. These problems can raise huge problems for the local as well as foreign students of these regions. As students may suffer from chronic diseases and illnesses, universities have decided to run health monitoring programs. The initiation of local volunteers helped the universities to distribute breathing masks to help students to stay protected from initial risks. The government should take more responsibilities and initiatives for the students’ safety and help them to maintain their normal learning activities.
