UPSC Civil Services exam is considered as one of the toughest competitive exam in India with the selection rate of less than 1%. UPSC Prelims results 2017 are already out, and the selected candidates are busy preparing hard for the UPSC IAS mains exam. The UPSC mains exam is scheduled to be conducted on 28th October 2017.UPSC civil services mains exam is conducted after three months from the UPSC Civil Services Prelims Exam. The mains exam is in subjective form, i.e., the candidates have to give answers in the written form. Here is some point that an aspirant needs to keep in mind while preparing between prelims and mains.1) Writing Practice:I am assuming that you have already completed most of the syllabus because it is not possible to study entire mains from scratch during this time. Now the time has come to practice more and more questions. There are 25 questions that need to be completed in 3 hours. Time is very limited in this exam. Writing practice will help to increase the speed of writing so that all the questions can be completed before time. Also, writing practice will help the candidates to write the quality answers in the mains exam.2) Multiple Revisions:The candidate can only be able to write a good answer when there will be sufficient content in mind. The exact content can only be written when the mind is practiced multiple times, i.e., if a candidate has revised the sources of preparation multiple times. Unlike UPSC Civil Services Prelims where the candidate has to recall the matter after looking through the options available in the question paper, in IAS mains exam the candidate has to remember what the candidate has studied and jot it down on the paper. This makes the exam tougher. No topic should be left unpracticed and unrevised.3) Mains Mock Tests:The best way to check the level of preparedness is to join a test series. Through the test series, the candidate can find out the mistakes and can correct it well before the exam. Sometimes we are not able to find the mistakes in our answer writing, and a right mentor can help to write the right answer of the question.4) Language Papers:There have been some candidates whose answer sheets have not been checked because they could not clear the qualifying language papers. Language papers are easy to clear as the candidate have just to score 25% in the papers, but completely ignoring the papers may land the candidate in trouble. Give a small portion of time to language papers also before the UPSC IAS mains exam.5) Time of Study:It is pretty much clear that not much time is left for the IAS mains 2017 exam. So, it is advisable to increase the study time during these three months duration. Divide the time for revision of each subject and prioritize the study accordingly. Before appearing for the UPSC mains exam, know about all the requisite details and other information that can help during the exam.
