National Institutes of Technology (NIT) are one of the oldest and premium institutes offering engineering education in India. Previously known as Regional Engineering Colleges (RECs), they are considered as Institutes of National Importance (INI) by the Government of India. From 1959 to 2015, 30 NITs are run in various cities across the country. One of the meritorious amongst them is the National Institute of Technology, Warangal. Situated in the state of Telengana, NIT-W primarily offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate degrees in Engineering and Technology. NIT, Warangal was established in the year 1959 as a part of the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s initiative to make India the leader in science and technology. He laid the foundation stone for this first ever Regional Engineering College of the country on 10th of October, 1959. From just three courses (Mechanical, Civil, and Mechanical) in Engineering taught in humble temporary sheds to the 256 acres of sprawling campus with 15 diverse courses, NIT Warangal has come a long way in developing some of the best Engineers of India. No wonder, NIT-W always finds a place in the list of “Top engineering colleges in the country”.With a Vision to create a “Global Knowledge Hub” in India and mission to impart total quality education for the students, NIT-W aims to create global Indians who stay ahead in highly competitive environments and to keep achieving higher levels of excellence. For the post graduate course in Engineering, the candidates need to clear Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) in their respective specializations. Students wishing to pursue Masters in Computer Application (MCA) should score high in NIMCET, an examination for admission to MCA courses in selected NITs. The admission for the PhD programs are conducted based on the application submitted by aspirants and it happens twice every year. The National Institute of Technology - Warangal promotes innovation and it proves that by being the only NIT to have a center that is used as a laboratory for start-up ideas. The college is aided by UNESCO and World Bank for many developmental activities. NIT-W has alumni in high positions and handsome jobs all over the world. The institute also has a huge alumni-network backing and they help their alma mater in every way.
