When we are talking about multinational company it may not necessary mean that you are large with ten thousand employees. Midmarket firms also have to go internationally. There are various goals including building distribution network and optimizing production cost. One of the key management tools is ERP system. When you are opening your first office abroad you realize that accounting deployed in the USA is not available down there. In this small publication we would like to give you initial info about SAP B1. Lets organize it in FAQ style:Q. We are acquiring mining facility in Brazil. Is it available in that country? Is it translated into Portuguese? We saw demo of Microsoft Dynamics but the price seems to be higher and not matching our budgetA. Yes it is available and localized there as well as Dynamics AX. You should expect add-ons for SPED (Public Digital Bookkeeping System). Also taxation rules are complex and consultants use so-called determination based on the state, goods classification, company size and other factors. Business One is reasonably successful there probably due to its brand name and reasonable price comparing to competitorsQ. We are deploying Dynamics GP formerly known as Great Plains in the headquarters in Chicago. We are currently acquiring plants in China and Brazil where GP is not available. Is it possible to deploy SB1 in these countries and produce consolidated financial reporting in Microsoft Management Reporter or FRx?A. We saw similar case. The solution was designed like the following. GL entries from Business One were exported weekly directly from SQL company database as CSV text file. Then from Great Plains side Integration Manager was pulling them into the company. And finally in FRx they had consolidated P&L and Balance Sheet built with reporting treeQ. Could you elaborate a little bit more about Localized ERP? Isnt it just foreign language user interface and data entry? We also deploy Great Plains and would like to translate user interface into Russian and Portuguese and use it in that form in those countriesA. Localized ERP concept has two aspects. You are absolutely right that the first one is language support. The second aspect is compliance to business related legislation and taxation. And the second one is more challenging. GP is not localized in the countries where you are opening offices. And legislation is complex. This is why we do not recommend you to try the idea to use GP over thereQ. Could you list the countries where SAP B1 is localized?A. It is available in both Americas, Europe, China, Russia and most of the Asia. It is not available in Arab worldQ. OK. We agree that SAP Business One is a good option. How should we design IT infrastructure?A. Good idea is to deploy it on the server in your headquarters where you may create SQL cluster for failover. We recommend Citrix to open client interface for international users. Doing it that way you should be able to exercise control over the data and enforce unification (similar chart of accounts across all the branches for example)Please call us 1-866-304-3265, 1-269-605-4904, help@efaru.com.
