Gone are those times when the companies and the organisations didn't need a hi-tech system to handle them. Drafting is the art of joining lines dimensions symbols andother objects together in order to create drawings that express a design whichcan only be interpreted in only one way. This design can be used to form manydifferent objects such as houses or buildings in the field of architecture ormechanical parts for automobiles and boats for example. Drafting takes severalyears to completely master and the field is constantly changing due to softwareupdates on a annual basis. Many people practice this art and usually only workin one of it's many branches. Some of these sub-branches include architecture, civil, mechanical, electrical and structural. Personally I enjoy working inevery field of drafting in order to have a well rounded feel and understandingof every aspect through out it. I began studyingdrafting when I was a young man about the age of six or seven. My father taughtarchitectural and technical drafting at my local community college. He had abig drafting table in his office and I remember looking at it, and his drawingswhich intrigued me. He used to have me do simple drawing in order to sharpen myskills and become a better writer. I wanted to be just like him and design myown house and then build it myself. I really looked up to him and I was goingto strive to be just like him. When I started my Sophomore year in High Schoolthey began offering a class called Computer Aided Drafting which I enrolled inimmediately because it sounded very interesting. Little did I know that itwould become the basis for all drafting in the future. I took all three coursedfor my electives over the next two years and gained a very good understandingof CAD before I left High School. CAD or Computer AidedDrafting and Design takes several years to completely master, and just when youthink you know it all they update it with new features you have never seen.Personally it gets kind of frustrating, but all in all it does make it easierto perform and to create the desired design once you get familiar with the software.A lot of people I know in the field never have to change the software they usedue to the fact of the high cost, but I try in keep up to date to stay on topof all the new features they incorporate to make the job easier. There are severaldifferent programs for specific branches of the drafting field. One of these isarchitecture which makes it easier to create walls, windows, roofs and otherdesigns specifically for drawing houses and buildings. Another field ofdrafting is mechanical which focuses mostly on machine parts for automobiles, boats, airplanes, and just about anything that uses mechanical parts that moveto create an object. The electrical field is bound to objects such as circuitboards, or any type of electrical device that is designed. It incorporatestransistors, resistors and other electrical objects. The last but not leastmain field of drafting is the civil field which focuses all of its attention onobjects like roads, bridges, or any type of design that is meshed with our naturalenvironment. I enjoy working withall of these fields and will never hold myself to just one because I feel Ineed to know all of them equally in order to provide customers with any type ofdesign they might want. The drafting field is constantly changing and beingupdated to provide drafters with the best tools possible for their designneeds. Personally I can't get enough of it and will always enjoy designing 2Dand 3D models. The drafting field has so many different aspects that it isreally hard to fully know all of them, but at least I can try. Thanks forletting me discuss the matter of Drafting and design or CAD as I know it.If You would like to learn more about the CAD Design ProcessClick Here-Invention & PrototypeDesign Services
