Lenovo has launched its first notebook with 3D graphics facilities, the Lenovo IdeaPad Y560d. There are certain laptops with 3D hardware, some employed Nvidias 3D technology while some used Tridef 3D technology. Y560d belongs to the latter category. This laptop uses a bundled pair of polarized glasses instead of battery powered glasses. You can watch movies, see photos and play games in 3D. The main problem with the Tridef 3D system is that it is not that awesome to use. The user is required to tilt the laptop at a perfect angle and then play the games using a third party application. Without 3D, Y560d is a good laptop with a nice design. But if a user doesnt want 3D apps, he can look over to better non-3D choices.Lets see some specifications of the laptop- 1.6 GHz Intel core i7-720 QM processor, 4 GB RAM which can be upgraded up to 8 GB, 500 GB hard drive with a speed of 7200 rpm, 15.6 inch screen with a resolution of 1366x768 pixels, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730 graphics. A touch sensitive bar is present at the top of the keyboard. On touching this bar, a small white light is flashed which corresponds to shortcuts for mostly used items like Documents, Sound Recorder. You can have an easy access to these items by just sliding your finger over the particular icon and then lifting over your finger. These shortcuts can also be customized according to your choice. You can lock the screen by sliding your finger from left to right and unlock the screen by sliding in the reverse direction.You can also install the latest version of this slider. The IdeaPad provides all the ports available in any notebook like HDMI and VGA ports, three USB ports, audio in/out and a USB/eSATA combo port. The only port not provided in Y560d is Express Card slot to connect accessories like USB 3.0 adapter. It has 1.3 megapixel cameras which can easily capture colorful images even in a dimly lit room. One drawback with IdeaPad Y560d is its battery life. The system worked for only 2 hours and 47 minutes without any charging. The system is also very heavy weighing about 6 pounds. Even after this it is a good entertainment machine with impressive 3D facilities.
