It is recommended to do testing and final data import into Business One in Data Transfer Workbench where you first have to work out CSV templates population process in Excel. This is not really a challenge except probably manual data massage in Excel with numerous templates. Today we would like to talk about exporting data from Microsoft Dynamics GP, Small Business Financial, Great Plains Dynamics and its predecessor DOS version of Great Plains. Lets begin with the most difficult one:1. Great Plains Accounting for DOS, Windows and Mac versions 9.5, 9.2 and earlier. Consider two methods. First one is printing GPA reports into text file and the cleansing and filtering data rows in custom MS SQL Table. This method doesnt look like a piece of cake but it is abstracting you from such painstaking actions as creating ODBC connection, preparing DDF files and then cleansing records again in Pervasive SQL Control Center. And the second method is what we just mentioned in the second half of the previous sentence. Plus there is additional complication as GPA was hosting several Btrieve tables in the same DAT file and this is why you may see records in SQL Select statement results with unreadable characters. If you are still negotiating with SAP Business One Reseller it might be better idea just to pay for Dynamics GP software licenses and upgrade all the way through to current version of Microsoft Dynamics GP2. Great Plains Dynamics on Pervasive SQL Server 2000. These are versions 7.5, 7.0, 6.0, 5.5, 5.0, 4.0 and earlier. Consider ODBC connection to Btrieve database which requires Data Definition Files. However they are not really difficult to produce via GenDDF routine. File.ddf, Field.ddf and Index.ddf files then should be copied into company folder on the server. Company folder is typically located in Dynamics folder. The good news is the fact that Great Plains Dynamics didnt share the same Btrieve file to host several tables. You can pump out table rows either in Pervasive SQL Control Center or in ODBC compliant tools such as Microsoft Access. If you are not planning massive historical data export, cleaning and migration project we would recommend you to consider alternative export by creating custom report in GP ReportWriter where you are just exporting data from one table at the time. Table structure could be researched via client interface: Tools -> Resource Description -> Tables3. Dynamics GP on MS SQL Server platform where earlier versions were known as GP eEnterprise and Dynamics C/S+. According to our experience exporting records from MS SQL Server is not something that you cannot do on your own. To research table structure please read previous paragraph4. Small Business Financials 7.0, 8.0, 9.0. This was a scaled down version of Dynamics GP. It was in time also recommended for walking away from GPA for DOS. Code base is Dynamics.dic dictionary and it is Dexterity coded application. Table structure is similar to traditional Great Plains Dynamics5.
