The orientation and zonekeys are located in the bottom left corner of the keyboard, on andabove the book image. When you are printing titles on Fastback binding strips, the zone keysand the orientation keys are extremely important. In fact, every timeyou go to print a title on your binding strip you will need to choosethe zone (top, middle or bottom) and the orientation of your text(landscape, stacked or portrait). In addition to these settings, youare also able to select the font that you would like to use, the fontsize for your text and the font type style that you would like to use.You can even add a graphic or a logo. These settings will be dealt within another article that discusses the menus of the P31 PowisPrinter. Zone Keys: Placing Your Text The zone keys are located on the spine of the book image. Theyrepresent the different "zones" of a book's spine - the top zone, middle zone, and bottom zone. When you want to put text in a certainzone, you just press the corresponding key. For example, if you wantyour text in the middle of the Binderstrip, press the Middle Zone key.Or if you want text at the top, press the Top Zone key. It's that easy. And remember, you can put text in one zone, two zones, or even allthree zones of one Binderstrip. Orientation Keys: Setting Up the Direction of Your Text Within each zone, you have to decide how to orient your text. That'swhere the orientation keys come in. The orientation keys are the threesmall round buttons labeled with ABCs, located above the book image. They orient the text in three different ways: Landscape, Stacked, orPortrait. If you have a lot of text to print you will probably want tochoose the Landscape mode. The stacked mode will only allow you toprint one line of text per zone. Portrait orientation will normallyonly provide room for a few characters on the edge of the spine. Ofcourse, the wider the spine of your book the more room there will befor portrait printing. Take a few minutes and try printing some text using different zones andorientations. You will find that there are some great options availableto you using your PowisPrinter. You can even put a landscape title inthe middle of your strip and a portrait label on the bottom of yourspine. Try it for yourself and see. Article Tags: Zone Keys, Book Image, Orientation Keys
