How much RAM do you have in your PC? 512MB? 1GB? Heaven forbid 256MB? In this current market of high priced DDR3 and rock-bottom priced DDR2 you have a decision to make. DDR3 is expensive and it has yet to get out of the shadow of its predecessor.DDR2 has seriously plummeted in price, here we have a 2GB kit of DDR2 800 that comes in at a Earth-shattering price of $50 and at that price no one has any excuse to be using less than 2GB.The kit is exactly what you would expect at this price range. Solid looking sticks with heatsinks that add a bit of color to your system. The rated latency is good but not exactly impressive, not that we expected low latency RAM at this price point. At the rated frequency of 800MHz the memory latency is 99ns, which unfortunately doesn't place it amongst the quickest modules we have tested, in fact they come in slower than any of the modules that we tested in June 2008. This is actually not all that surprising considering the price difference between the OCZ ReaperX modules (slowest on test) and the Mushkin modules. The HP 9965765 are not overclocking RAM, but they do have 3 bit of head room for those that want to spend a little and get a lot. With an easy change of timings and FSB we had these sticks running at 1066MHz with timings of 5-5-5-15. With this rather modest OC we got a reduced latency of 9ns, but also saw a bandwidth increase of 500MB/s.While we would not recommend buying these sticks if you want to OC to dizzying heights we would happily put these sticks in a gaming rig and know that we can expect an acceptable level of performance. The price of these modules is awesome, and for a few dollars you can get yourself two sets and enjoy 4GB of beautifully matched memory which will make 64-bit Vista purr. Article Tags: These Sticks
