Samsung have now introduced their first handset to feature the new Bada operating system, the Samsung Wave also features some other exciting new technology and looks set to be a popular and powerful new phone for the manufacturer. Also known as the Samsung S8500 the new Wave offers a 3.3 inch touch screen which features the new Super AMOLED technology, this is said to produce far clearer and sharper imaging by stripping back on the layers of materials used. The new Bada platform has been introduced by Samsung for developers to add new applications to very much like the Android Market, the Samsung Wave runs this over the top of an industry leading 1GHz processor only currently found in a few devices including the latest Sony Ericsson X10, HTC Desire and Google Nexus One all of which are Android phones as well as the HTC HD2 which is a Windows based device. This is also the first time that Samsung have showcased their new TouchWiz 3.0 user interface which includes a raft of social networking features and speedily loads applications and takes the user through the menu system. The new Samsung S8500 also features a 5.0 mega pixel camera, Bluetooth v3, GPS, WiFi, 3.5G support for fast downloads and an FM Radio, there is a large 1500 mAh battery hidden on the reverse of the phone which provides good standby and talk-time.The phone is finished in a similar way to the best selling Samsung Tocco Ultra Edition with a brushed steel effect on the front and back of the handset, this makes for a welcome alternative to the majority of plastic looking smart phones currently available. The camera resolution is pretty much industry standard for many new smart phones, these include the recently launched Nokia X6, HTC Legend, LG Pop and from the same camp the Samsung Omnia 2, however the S8500 Wave handset also supports HD quality video recording which is only currently matched by the new Sony Ericsson Vivaz and HTC Desire handsets. This new mobile phone has now been given a confirmed release date as a SIM Free handset, consumers will be able to get their hands on this powerful new phone from May 14th, there has also been a price released for the unlocked version of this phone at £339.99 which is very reasonable considering the amount of technology and features on board.
